Let's Get It All Out..

So it's summer and I have some time on my hands and I've been trying to live by the "Less is More" concept just so I am more grateful for the things I have and also to try and save money and learn what a BUDGET is. Last week I was looking through my closet and it was really bothering me that everything was basically all over the place and I had no room to put anymore clothes because I had so many.

Throughout my life I have always been a huge advocate on donating my clothes to Goodwill or places like that. So of course the time of year came again and I went all in and dove right in the deep end. I first did a little shopping through my own closet and looked at clothes and outfits in a new way also styling blouses with new pants that I haven't done before. That made me actually cherish my clothes a lot more and want to wear them more as well! After that I saw the pieces of clothes that I didn't even touch let alone look at and without thinking for more than 5 seconds, I put them in a plastic bag and didn't look back.

I think this was one of my favorite times donating my clothes because I took away a lot more than usual and I also was more blessed for the clothes that I owned. I also went a little further and rearranged my closet as well to make it look different and see the clothes in a new light.

Honestly, that helped so much just by making room to breathe a little and not being overwhelmed by so many clothes to the point of saying "I have nothing to wear". Yes, I still have A LOT of clothes still but hey, this bag is pretty big and I think I did a great job with only keeping the clothes that I wear on a regular basis.

This is the beginning of the "Less is More" aspect of life and I'm happy with the result of how I handled this because usually it is so hard for me to throw out clothes even though I never wear them anyways.

Do you do a little "Summer cleaning" with your closet? If not, I totally think you should jump on this with me and we can stop being hoarders together :)

#MayMakers Lifestyle Change

Hey You!

So the beautiful Jacky, or as some people know her as DoItForTheIrony blogger, she has asked me to write a post for the month of May talking about something that I'm making or some sort of project that I'm working on. So I have been thinking for a couple of weeks something that I am making, and I am in no way a creative person so I was going to opt out of this post all together, but then something came to me :)

For the past few months I have been researching Vegetarian, Vegan and Plant-Based lifestyles. The reason why is because first, it's all over the place people talking about the GMO effects it has on someone's body and how bad meat and bread and dairy can be for someone. So obviously some things about this is skeptical because there is always a new fad out about a bad food you shouldn't eat, and this time it so happens to be everything but fruits and vegetables basically. So doing a lot of research and seeing how people feel when they take out meat and dairy from their meals really has got me thinking if I should do the same thing. Now, it is not easy taking on this lifestyle and it's also not cheap, and I am a college student so this would be quite difficult for me.

Something that I struggle with a lot is black and white thinking. Which basically means there are no gray areas in my life and if there are, I look at those as very negative parts in my life, which is wrong those gray areas don't mean they are bad it's just a way of living. No one can a live a black and white life because we are human. So working on that has really helped me accept myself better and love myself more as well.

So I have been slowly dipping my feet in the water of not eating meat. At first, I was doing it for health reasons and for myself, which for some reason was a lot harder to maintain. Then I started talking to people that I knew who didn't eat meat and researched it as well. So I was taking meat out of my meals rather slowly and cautiously because I didn't want to dive in the deep end without knowing what I was getting myself into.

The day before Mother's Day I saw this video on how people kill animals and how they torture them in such a way that I literally had to close my eyes and I was so disturbed and my heart hurt for these animals. No one should have to go through the pain and suffering that they put these animals in and they aren't even a fast quick death. From the moment these animals are born, they are abused and slowly dying with so many chemicals inside them. That made me stop completely on eating meat.

Now I wouldn't say that I am a Vegetarian because I really do hate titles that brings me back to the "Black and White" lifestyle which I am trying to get away from. But I don't eat meat, and the only time I will eat meat is if it says on the menu that they catch this fish daily or something along those lines. It is so easy for me to not eat meat because I know I'm not doing it for myself and I'm doing it for these animals who are being tortured their whole life. I'm a huge advocate on not testing on animals for make up products and other things like that, so it was also strange to me that I would eat them but I wouldn't use products if they were tested on animals first.

So this is my project that I'm working on because I'm hoping to get more people involved in not eating meat for the animal's sake and not for their health. Obviously I am not forcing anyone to not eat meat I'm just hoping that I can put the thought in your head like it was in mine, and to think of what these animals go through.

What are your thoughts on eating meat and all of these new eating lifestyle changes everyone has been talking about?

(These are new recipes I have been trying out an they tasted delicious! Obviously no meat)

What's The Deal With Flying?

So yesterday I flew to Pittsburgh to visit my sister and this was my very first time driving to the airport alone and doing it all by myself. Usually someone like a family member drops me off and I take off alone. Never have I driven there by myself. I feel like a real adult! Weird feeling especially since when I was at security this man came up to me and said "you look like you're 12! You can't be flying alone." Yeah that killed my adulthood vibe real fast!

So as many of you know from reading previous posts I suffer with panic attacks. Those don't stop at flying that's for sure! The last time I flew to Pittsburgh I actually had a panic attack and I was even with my mom. So you could only imagine the thoughts running through my head being alone on this trip! To help myself, and to help you guys if you're not a fan of flying I thought of some tips that can reduce the fear a bit.

1. Get to the airport a little early than usual and be sure to locate the plane that you will be going on. That will help with releasing the stress of being delayed.

2. Do not, under any circumstances GET COFFEE BEFOREHAND (I made this mistake more than once, trust me on this). Did you know that caffeine bumps up your ----- level and that spikes up anxiety as well. So seriously don't do it, or get decaf!

3. Have enough books/magazines and earphones to keep you busy on the flight and before.

 4. I also always feel better when I have gum near me as well. It's a weird paranoid thing my whole family has with chewing gum while on a flight..but maybe it can help you too!

5. Lastly, don't have tons of luggage with you on the flight. Check your big bags and be done with worrying about them. Once you check them they are out of your control and you'll only have to deal with your handbag which is much easier to keep track of.

Do you have any tips? Wish me luck on flying back home!

My Little Journey At The Farmer's Market

Hi all! So this weekend I was able to go to a lovely Farmer's Market and spend the whole day there with a friend. We had an amazing time and we basically fell in love with all of the amazing handmade artwork and organic food that was being freshly made (most of it) right before our eyes! It was also a beautiful a day with the sun shining so bright and there was a really nice breeze so we weren't sweating our butts off! It was both our first time going so we had no idea what to expect. I was so happy I brought my camera because I wanted to show all of you how great a Farmer's Market actually is.

I was telling my friend that my goal for the summer is to only shop at local stores and stop going to the chained stores because we need to help those Mom&Pop stores out. He totally agreed and what better place to start than at a Farmer's Market? So I got a bunch of business cards from each table we went to and I'm hoping to stay in contact with each of these beautiful individuals and see where their businesses can take them and hopefully I can help them out along the way!

In these pictures everything here is either homemade, homegrown, and also made with a lot of love and passion :)

One of my favorite items to buy or look at are homemade bags. I think it's beautiful to see someone's artwork in a purse that I can show off everyday and this bag definitely is different from all other handmade bags I've seen. That's why I had to buy it. This woman makes theses bags out of plastic bags from either Target or Publix and ties them together and crochets them with old bed sheets. When they say reuse the plastic bags she DEFINITELY took that seriously! Love it!

As you can see the fruits here are SO bright and colorful. That's because they didn't spray them with any chemicals or preservatives. They also tasted wonderful and my stomach was loving me by the end of the day because of all the organic and natural foods I was feeding it! Very happy tummy for sure. We even got to drink out of actual coconuts! We had an amazing day and I know we are going to go back..maybe I'll even do a weekly Farmer's Market post if I'm able to go once a week!

Have you ever been to a Farmer's Market or Flea Market? What's your favorite find?
